I've been toying with a few illustration styles in my down time. I'm finding that I like the hand drawn style (on trend right now, see: Dropbox and Allbirds). The pull towards hand drawn probably lends itself to my graphite roots in high school.
I cant remember where I heard it, but the argument for equal paid paternity leave made its way into my consciousness. The woman making her case said (I paraphrase), "Until men and women's leave is treated equally, men are more likely to get promotions because they're expected to work more."
The inspiration bug hit.
I spent a lot of time reviewing David Horsey's style. I dig the painterly color treatment, thick lines and sketchy details.
Top things to work on next are color choice, style refinement, consistency and overall composition.
